Design lesson plan for primary children using the TPACK model integration.

The TPACK framework offers a powerful lens for educators to examine the knowledge they bring to integrating technology effectively in the classroom. TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge, highlighting the key areas where knowledge intersects:

  • Technological Knowledge (TK): Understanding the capabilities and limitations of various technologies.
  • Pedagogical Knowledge (PK): Knowing different teaching methods and how to best use them.
  • Content Knowledge (CK): Mastery of the subject matter being taught
Simply knowing technology or good teaching practices isn't enough for impactful technology integration. TPACK emphasizes the crucial intersection. Teachers who understand how technology can enhance specific teaching methods for a particular subject area can design truly transformative learning experiences.
Effective technology integration isn't about using the latest app; it's about using the right technology for the right pedagogical approach to teach a specific concept. Teachers act as weavers, braiding their knowledge of technology, pedagogy, and content to create effective lessons.

Lesson:2

Subject: Mathematic

Topic: Addition

Class: I

Teaching learning materials: Video link, images, digital tools, textbooks

ICT model: TPACK model

Teaching method: Collaborative method

Previous knowledge: They are aware of counting numbers

Lesson objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

demonstrate understanding of addition within 20 through digital tools

practice addition problem solving skills in a collaborative environment.

Lesson Introduction

Teacher will provide content knowledge by reviewing the concept of addition with the class.

Engage students by asking questions like:

What is addition?

When do we use addition in real life?

Use real-life examples or stories to illustrate the concept of addition

(Dechen has 5 chocolates and Dorji has 3 chocolates. How many chocolates are there altogether?)

After that teacher will provide information input in addition.

Lesson Development

Activity:20 minutes. Collaborative learning (pedagogical knowledge)

Instructions

-The teacher will divide the class into different groups of 5 members each.

-Provide them with questions that don't exceed the sum of 20. (5+5, 3+9, 10+8, 8+8)

- Firstly, students will solve these questions in their notebook.

-After that, they will solve some questions on an online worksheet given below.

Online worksheet on addition

Follow up Activity:10 minutes

-In the same group, let them play a digital addition game.

-Demonstrate how to play the game

-Allow students to take turns playing the game in the group
